Age-old Dhokra metal casting is composed of processed brass, which gives the crafts an antique appearance and dull-gold metallic finish. Dhokra metal is cast using a traditional process known as the lost-wax technique, in which a wax and clay model of the desired product is made, the artistic patterns are first created, and the casting is carried out manually. The motifs are cleaned and polished using fine motorised wire brushes after casting and cooling. Overall, the process necessitates a significant amount of manual labour and endurance.
